Carbon Zero Scheme

Carbon Zero Scheme logoAt Toshiba we are committed to the environment and with the help of carbon offsetting experts CO2balance we have devised a scheme which enables us to help combat CO2 emissions through the offsetting of all our products.

Carbon offsetting allows for the investment in projects that save the emission of, or absorb, an equivalent amount of CO2 to that of any Toshiba product's footprint. Through this process the emissions are balanced to become “Carbon Zero,” which allows for positive business activities with no detrimental effect on the environment.

Created in 2009, Toshiba’s Carbon Zero Scheme has recently hit a major milestone by offsetting 100,000 tonnes of CO2e*. Which has, as a result, helped to reduce global CO2e emissions while also helping to improve the lives of those in some of the world’s poorest regions.

The Carbon Zero Scheme is an industry-leading programme in which the total footprint of a Toshiba device from parts procurement, manufacture and transportation is offset. Providing organisations with a completely carbon neutral device upon delivery.

Working together with CO2balance, the Carbon Zero Scheme helps to fund vital projects such as African Energy Efficient Stoves, Ugandan Borehole Rehabilitation and Brazilian Rainforest Protection. Providing life-changing opportunities alongside preventing carbon emissions.

To put 100,000 tonnes into context, it is the equivalent of 46,874 trans-atlantic flights. In the process of offsetting 100,000 tonnes the Carbon Zero Scheme has prevented 26,829 cases of smoke related illness, improved water quality for 8,229 people and created over 128,780 working days for participants of the schemes.
