Regional construction business with deep family roots and employee ownership, streamline operations with cutting-edge Toshiba MFPs, supplied by Nuvem Solutions, a provider renowned for their expertise in print solutions.
Founded in 1956, Lindum Group has offices and sites across the East Midlands and employs in the region of 650 people. From the very beginning, the philosophy of the company was set clearly towards practical skills and good relationships with clients, and this continues to this day.
The business expanded from civil engineering, primarily for water companies and industrial customers, to building and larger construction projects over the years, especially in the food manufacturing and retailing sectors, as well as education and social housing.

Responsive service
With offices in Lincoln, Peterborough and York managing construction projects including new builds, refurbishments and small works projects, Lindum Group has a busy and thriving operation. As partly employee-owned they reinvest their profits carefully for the benefit of their customers and shareholders. This philosophy is also maintained when selecting suppliers, looking at those where they can develop a mutually beneficial long-term relationship and gain the best value. Ian Jones, Group IT Manager spoke about the importance of customer-focused providers and the need for an efficient print solutions network, “Many of our departments have high usage on the MFPs, particularly in areas like the finance department, where they are processing over 10,000 invoices every month. We had been utilising Toshiba devices for many years and were impressed with their robustness and reliability, but when our existing supplier diversified their range, our level of support diminished. It’s critical at our offices and construction sites that we have minimal downtime so that we can support all our projects. This gave us no choice but to look for an alternative partner that would be responsive, have the knowledge and experience of the Toshiba fleet and be able to offer a service level agreement (SLA) that matched the needs of the business.”
Tailored approach
Lindum Group sought the advice of specialist print and document solutions provider Nuvem Solutions, having previous experience of working with director Michael Woodcock. Michael talked about what sets Nuvem apart from other suppliers, “We understand that every customer is different, we listen to their objectives, thoroughly review every area of their business and tailor a proposal that is going to match the needs of each department or site. For Lindum Group, they wanted a flexible approach to managing the construction sites and a robust service delivery across the offices where printing and scanning demand is high, especially where the devices service a large number of employees. We were able to propose the latest Toshiba MFPs, a fully comprehensive service, and a financial package that would enable Lindum Group to reduce costs, improve efficiencies and deliver a rapid return on investment.”
Partnering with Toshiba allowed Nuvem to recommend and install the most appropriate solution in each area, with the speed, efficiency and functionality to match the business demands. The legal team department can now benefit from auto-feed and dual-side scanning for their high volume of contractual documents. The accounts team is utilising Drivve software to automate invoice processing into the ERP systems, and the board of directors can analyse print usage via PaperCut software to see trends and measure costings, to look at areas for improvement and where savings can be made.
Flexible for the short-term
As well as the latest Toshiba technology and the commitment to a consistently high level of service and support, one of the elements that impressed Lindum Group most about the Nuvem proposition was their flexible approach to managing print solutions, at short and mid-term construction sites. Ian commented on this aspect of proposal, “Aside from their excellent knowledge and wealth of experience in the print solutions marketplace, Nuvem also clearly understands the construction industry. We have many sites running at the same time, which range in size and time frame. They have been able to install at short notice, look after all the PPE and health and safety requirements, and remove and store devices on completion of the projects. They have managed the whole process for us, it’s one less thing for us to worry about, and they are always available at the end of the phone to assist should we have any problems or issues.”
The extra mile
The Nuvem philosophy is all about people, exceptional service and reliable products, and this is reflected through every interaction, from inviting potential clients to Toshiba offices to see the products in action, through to forums where customers can network and share best practices. They want to develop long-term partnerships and be seen as trusted advisors for all things print. Ian concluded on the project and ongoing relationship, “Nuvem are a very personal business to work with, they are knowledgeable, responsive and offer that flexibility that you just don’t get from other suppliers. They have the backing of a quality brand like Toshiba to propose innovative, reliable and cost-effective solutions, all wrapped with a service package that offers excellent response times and experienced and skilled engineers. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to businesses in the local area or similar organisations in the construction industry.”
